I love having a bunch of hanging baskets hanging out on my front porch with different plants in them. It is according to which ever season we are in, as to what I have planted in my hanging baskets.
Hanging baskets needs to be as large as the space is, where it is going to be hang. Hanging baskets has some requirements and criteria, and if they need to be, so they will become a joy and delight to work with them.
I check out the spaces where I am going to hang my hanging baskets and I buy the largest ones that will fit into each space. I also buy sphagrum moss to put into each of my basket. I always buy more than I expect to use, so I will have enough. It is better to have more than not enough. The best choice for plants is to get ready-made mixture of a peat moss with water retentive granules.
This is started off by putting some sphagmum moss that is damp. The next layer will be a shadow layer of compost, then I start putting my small trailings plants through the lowest holes, and then I will cover all of this with compost. I will continue this process upward, always remembering to put the moss in before I put more compost. Settle all the plants down firmly. I do this till I get all of my hanging baskets.. Always water.
What is so good about hanging baskets is I can make many different hanging baskets with different plants and different colors. I like the plants that has a natural habit of trailing and tumbling out of the baskets. Some of the plants that will do this are begonias, pansies, violas, fuchsias, alyssin, sedums, alpine phlox, and so many more.
After I have done all of my baskets, I will need to check the hooks and the chains are always secured.
I water all of my hanging baskets everyday. Every week, during the summer I will add a liquid fertilizer to my watering arrangements, and I will taper this off at the end of the summer.
Hanging baskets needs to be groom as the season so on. I always try them and if I find that I have dead flowers or dead foliage. I will cut all of this off. I use scissors to cut off all of this dead flowers or dead foliage.
Hanging baskets are so nice to have at any place where it is a home or an office.
